Daniel “BB” Perez’s Reality

Show Me Your Genitals Music Video

This is probably the greatest song I have ever heard.  It’s super simple, has a catchy chorus, and the lyrics are really not “female friendly”.  Not that I have anything against females, but you have to admit this song is funny.

You read right folks.  Someone is actually selling a Giant Marshmallow on ebay.  Here’s an excerpt from the auction:

“THIS ENORMOUS MARSHMALLOW IS OVER 8 INCHES TALL, OVER 11 INCHES ACROSS, AND WEIGHS NEARLY 25 POUNDS! Of all the things you could spend your money on, this is the best!

And how much would you expect to spend for close to 25 pounds of pure ‘mallow goodness?  How about $20,000?  Yes, you read right.  If you want a marshmallow, you better have some extra money to burn.

New Toys Alert: DualShock 3 & D-Link DGL-4500 Extreme N Router

ps3-dualshock-31.jpg

I received my usual daily email this morning from Buy.com and I saw they were selling a DualShock 3 controller for only $45 with free shipping.  I’ve been wanting to pick up a DualShock 3 for some time as I am one of those who believe something as small as rumble can really bring you into any game more.  With Metal Gear Solid 4 coming in a couple of weeks, I thought it was time I had rumble back in my life.

dgl4500_139.JPG

As for the D-Link DGL-4500.  I’ve been watching a lot of streaming video from my computer and sometimes when I’m watching a video, it’ll pause and be stuck buffering.  This has been getting on my nerves as it tends to happen at a very interesting moment.  So, what I’ve been planning to do was upgrading my home network to 802.11n so I won’t have any trouble streaming media from my computer to my PS3 or Xbox 360.

I was doing research for a while on which router would be the best for me.  A lot of them had a bunch of pros & cons, but then I was discussing routers with Gaming Today’s news manager, Ron “Chicken ‘N’ Beer Is Good Eat’n” Whitaker, and he told me he had this router for his home.  With that, I decided to read up on this router and…quite frankly…. it kicks ass!

This is only the first step towards my complete home network upgrade.  The next step is to buy me one of them fancy, shmansy Mac Minis to act primarily as a streaming media player since my current desktop is taking up way too much space and power for what it’s doing.

FileFront’s Big Giveaway…. Brought To You By Me!

picture-2.png

If you’re a regular visitor of FileFront.com, then you know that this week we are giving away 50,000 retail copies of Saga.  Whenever I went to a website and I saw an exclusive anything, I never really paid too much mind.  Now that I know how much work and planning goes into an exclusive such as this, I don’t take it for granted anymore.

Just to let you in to my world without giving anything away, this has been in planning for pretty much a month which is how most exclusive things go.  I feel for the folks who work on exclusives for magazines since they have a deadline to get everything together.  In the case of online media, we can take as long as we or the client wants since we rarely have any deadlines.  The only deadlines we honor is the one we set up with the client on when to launch the promotion.

Big thanks to everyone who took part in helping making this exclusive a big success and a first for FileFront.  Just to let you guys know, in FileFront’s history, they’ve never given away retail copies of any game.

GTA IV, Mario Kart, Patapon Have Arrived!

2455117230_a66380cc2b.jpg

My gaming addiction has come to an all-time high this week.  Not only did I get GTA IV, but I also picked up Mario Kart Wii & Patapon while I was at it.  I had to get Mario Kart Wii since I’ve been a huge fan of the Mario Kart series since it’s start on the SNES.  And I heard a lot of good things about Patapon, so I decided to throw it into my cart since I had some money left over in my Walmart.com gift card.

It’s a shame Mario Kart Wii came out the same week as GTA IV.  If it was released a week or two before GTA IV, I’m sure a lot more people would have picked it up.  I think parents who are looking to keep their kids busy while they go off to play GTA should invest in Mario Kart Wii.  With tons of tracks, characters, and online play (now with tournaments), you really can’t go wrong with Mario Kart Wii.

As for Patapon, I did get to play it a bit last night and it seems like a really complicated, but still intriguing game.  The whole premise is you’re a god and you are guiding these creatures to attack or move furter into the level.  I’m sure there are more commands, but I only got up to the 3rd level when the battery in my PSP gave out.  Bad news is my charger is in my friend’s house, which I’ll get back this weekend.

Either way, I’m very happy with my three recent game purchases.  I do feel bad that I had to put Okami to the back seat right now since it was starting to get really good.  Oh well…

Oh!  One last thing.  If you happen to own Mario Kart Wii & GTA IV, good luck driving in either game after you played one or the other for a couple of hours.

Weird Dreams 4/30/08 - Mariah Carey’s Date Opportunity

mariah-carey-biography-7.jpg

The other night, I had another pretty weird dream.  This time, it involved the lovely Mariah Carey.  We are at an event at an abandoned airfield and she had asked me to have dinner with her and her children (in my dream, Mariah Carey had 2 kids).  I was really excited about it.  She went off to mingle a little bit more, so I decided to prepare myself for the date.

I went to meet Mariah and her children at one of the tables that were set up (it was one of those tables at the park which had a table in the middle and benches on the side), but I got nervous when I approached the table.  I saw how much fun Mariah was having with her children, so I decided to sit at the table behind them and have dinner alone.  After a while, she ended up noticing I was sitting at the table behind them the whole time and got upset with me cause she was looking forward to having dinner with me.

Once dinner was done, she went to mingle with the other people that were there and I felt like a complete ass the entire time she was talking to other people.  I decided to confront her and asked her if I completely lost my chance with her, and she said yes.  I made my way back to my table and continued feeling like a complete ass for not being able to get over my nerves to eat dinner with her.

As she was leaving, I went up to her to say bye.  I apologized to her for not sitting at her talbe for dinner.  I told her that she was Mariah friggin Carey and that just got me really nervous.  She saw how sincere I was and she decided to give me one more chance.  She told me she was going to perform at a concert in a Community College in NYC and she’d like me to show up.  I asked her where it was.  She told me the location, but I asked if she could write down the address.  She didn’t have any paper on her, so she wrote the directions on the back of her iPod and handed it to me.  She also made sure to let me know that she expected me to be in the front row so she can sing directly to me.  I said “Thank you” and I jumped away.  Somehow, a gust of air caught me and made it seem like I was flying.  When I landed, she looked at me very surprised, and I returned that look with a “That’s right!” look of my own, but in my head I was really shocked too!

I hailed a taxi down on the street.  I moved the driver to the passenger seat so I can drive to the community college.  I asked him where the community college was, but then asked why I needed to go there.  I showed him the iPod with Mariah Carey’s writing on it and said, “I’ve got one last chance with Mariah Carey!  She’s so rich she wrote a note to me on her iPod!”  I drove away and that’s when I woke up.

This was one of those dreams that felt so real that I woke up angry when I realized it was a dream.  Not to say my life right now isn’t great.  It is!  But…c’mon… Mariah friggin Carey!

Latest Game Purchases: Mario Kart Wii, GTA IV & Patapon

mario-kart.jpg

Since I hate leaving my house unless there’s a fire or the local ice cream man is outside, I decided to purchase two games I was planning on getting for some time from Walmart.com since I had a gift card dying to be used.  Mario Kart Wii (which was released yesterday), and Patapon for the PSP.

The reason why I decided to purchase these two games in the eve of GTA IV is simply because I know I am going to be spending TONS of time playing GTA IV.  Just like with any other game, I’m afraid that I’ll get bored of the game.  So, I thought Mario Kart Wii would be a great alternative to GTA since I have been a fan of Mario Kart for a very long time. Throw in online multiplayer, and I could see myself spending a lot of time on Mario Kart as well.

As for Patapon, I had been eyeing the game ever since I read the reviews and saw some gameplay videos of it.  It’s from the developers who created Parappa The Rapper, one of my top 10 most favoritest games!

NY Comic Con 2008: Metal Gear Online Hands-On Video

This past weekend, I headed out to the New York Comic Con to see all of that latest and greatest in the Comic Book community. To my surprise, Komani was there showing off Metal Gear Online. Not only did I have to play it, but I made sure I got footage of myself completely sucking at… er.. I mean pwning the enemy! We all know that folks who play video games for a living must be good at all of them…right?!

I must say that I was completely surprised at how well the game handled. It stayed true to how Metal Gear Solid feels, while finally adding a multiplayer component to it. The game was setup as a local 4v4 LAN match. As you’ll see in the video above, this was the first time I ever played MGO, so I didn’t quite have a grasp on what the controls were yet. I did like how you can change weapons or accessories by simply press the R2/L2 buttons instead of having to hold it down in order to select what you want to use (even though I can’t recall at the moment if that was something previous Metal Gear Solid games did).

Playing Metal Gear Online was fun for the short time I got to try it out. Thanks to this hands-on impression, not only am I looking forward to MGS4, but I’ll also probably be checking out MGO whenever I have the chance.
